¿È ÆòÈ ÆòÈ ÆòÈ
1. Aum, this syllable is all this. An explanation of that. All that is past, the present and the future, all this is only the syllable aum. And whatever else there is beyond the threefold time, that too is only the syllable aum
¿À¿ò- ÀÌ ¿À¿òÀÌ¾ß ¸»·Î ¸ðµç °Í, Áï, °ú°Å¿¡ ÀÖ¾úÀ¸¸ç. ÇöÀç Á¸ÀçÇÏ°í, ¹Ì·¡¿¡µµ Á¸ÀçÇÒ ¸ðµç °ÍÀÌ´Ù. ÀÌµé ½Ã°£À» ³Ñ¾î¼± ¸ðµç °Í, ±×°Íµé ¶ÇÇÑ ¿À¿òÀÌ´Ù.
2. All this is verily, Brahman. This self is Brahman. This same self has four quarters.
ÀÌ ¸ðµç °ÍÀº ºê¶óÈ常À̸ç ÀÌ ¾Æ¶ß¸¸ÀÌ ¹Ù·Î ºê¶óÈ常ÀÌ´Ù. ÀÌ ¾Æ¶ß¸¸ÀÇ ³× ºÎºÐÀÌ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï.
3. The first quarter is Vaisvanara, whose sphere is the waking state, who cognizes external objects, who has seven limbs and nineteen mouths and who experiences gross objects.
±ú¾îÀÖ´Â »óÅ¿¡ ¸Ó¹°¸ç, ¿ÜºÎ¼¼°è¸¦ ºÐº°ÇÏ´Â ÀÚ, ÀÏ°ö °¡Áö¿Í ¿ ¾ÆÈ©°³ÀÇ ÀÔÀ» °¡Á³À¸¸ç, ¹°Áú¼¼°è¸¦ ¸Ô°í »ç´Â ¹ÙÀ̽º¹Ù³ª¶ó°¡ ±× ù ºÎºÐÀÌ¿ä.
4. The second quarter is taijasa, whose sphere is the dream state, who cognizes internal objects, who has seven limbs and nineteen mouths, and who experiences the subtle objects.

5. Where one, being fast asleep, does not desire any desire whatsoever and does not
see any dream whatsoever, that is deep sleep. The third quarter is prajna, whose sphere is the state of deep sleep, who has become one, who is verily, a mass of cognition, who is full of bliss and who experiences bliss, whose face is thought.
¾Æ¹«°Íµµ ¹Ù¶óÁö ¾ÊÀ¸¸ç ¾Æ¹«·± ²Þµµ ²ÙÁö ¾Ê´Â »óÅ´ ¹Ù·Î ¾ÆÁÖ ±íÀº ¼ö¸é»óÅÂ, ±× ±íÀº ¼ö¸é»óÅ¿¡ ¸Ó¹°¸ç, Áöº¹(ananda)À¸·Î ¸¸µé¾îÁ® ÀÖÀ¸¸ç, Áöº¹¸¸À» ¸Ô°í »ç´Â 'ÀǽÄ'À̶ó´Â ÀÔÀ» °¡Áø '»Ú¶ó³Ä'°¡ ±× ¼¼¹ø° ºÎºÐÀÌ´Ù.
6. This is the lord of all, this is the knower of all, this is the inner controller; this is the source of all; this is the beginning and the end of beings.
±×(»Ú¶ó³Ä)´Â ¸ðµÎÀÇ ÁÖÀÎÀ̸ç, ¸ðµç °ÍÀ» ¾Æ´ÂÀÚ, ³»ºÎÀÇ ÅëÄ¡ÀÚÀÌ¸ç ¸ðµç °ÍÀÇ ±Ù¿ø, ¸ðµç °ÍÀÇ ½ÃÃÊÀÌÀÚ, ¸ðµç »ý¸íüµéÀÇ Á¾¸»ÀÌ´Ù.
7. Turiya is not that which cognises the internal, not that which cognises the external, not what cognises both of them, not a mass of cognition, not cognitive, not non-cognitive. It is unseen, incapable of being spoken of, unnameable, the essence of the knowledge of the one self, that into which the world is resolved, the peaceful, the benign, the non-dual, such, they think, is the fourth quarter. He is the self; He is to be known.

8. This is the self, which is of the nature of the syllable aum, in regard to its elements. The quarters are the elements, the elements are the quarters, namely the letter, a, the letter u, and the letter m.
¹Ù·Î ±× ¾Æ¶ß¸¸ÀÇ ¹®ÀڷμÀÇ ¸ð½ÀÀÌ '¿À¿ò'ÀÌ´Ù. ¾Æ, ¿ì, À½ÀÇ ¼¼ ±ÛÀڷμ ±×´Â ¼ÀÖ´Ù. ±×ÀÇ ¼¼ ºÎºÐÀÌ ÀÌ '¾Æ ¿ì À½', ¼¼ ±ÛÀÚµéÀÌ´Ï '¾Æ ¿ì À½' ´Â ±×¸¦ ÀÌ·ç°í ÀÖ´Â ºÎºÐµéÀÌ´Ù.
9. Vaisvanara, whose sphere is the waking state, is the letter a, the first element, either from the root ap to obtain or from being the first. He who knows this, obtains, verily, all desires, also he becomes first.
¿ì¸®ÀÇ ÀǽÄÀÌ ±ú¾îÀÖ´Â »óÅ¿¡ ¸Ó¹«´Â ±× ¹ÙÀ̽º¹Ù³ª¶ó´Â ½Åµé Áß¿¡¼ ¹ÙÃÄÁø Á¦¹°À» °¡Àå ¸ÕÀú ¸Ô°í ±×°ÍÀ» ´Ù¸¥ ½Åµé¿¡°Ô ÀüÇϸç ÀÌ°ÍÀº ¾Æ ¿ì À½ÀÇ Ã¹±ÛÀÚ '¾Æ' ¿Í°°ÀÌ ¸Ç óÀ½ ³ª¼´Ï, À̵éÀº 'óÀ½'À̶ó´Â °øÅëÁ¡À» °¡Áö°í ÀÖ´Ù.
10. Taijasa, whose sphere is the dream state, is the letter u, the second element, from exaltation or inter-mediateness. He who knows this exalts, verily, the continuity of knowledge and he becomes equal; in his family is born no one who does not know Brahman.
²Þ²Ù´Â »óÅ¿¡ ¸Ó¹«´Â ŸÀÌÀÚ»ç´Â ¹ÙÀ̽º¹Ù³ª¶ó¿Í »Ú¶óÀð »çÀÌ¿¡, ±×¸®°í '¿ì'´Â '¾Æ' ¿Í 'À½' »çÀÌ¿¡ À§Ä¡ÇÏ´Â °øÅëÁ¡ÀÌ ÀÖÀ¸¹Ç·Î ÀÏÄ¡µÇ´Â ¹Ù°¡ ÀÖ´Ù. ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ ÁöÇýÀ» ¾Æ´Â »ç¶÷Àº ±×ÀÇ Áö½ÄÀÌ ³¯·Î ´Ã °ÍÀÌ¿À, ¼¼»ó»ç¿¡ ±¸º°À» µÎÁö ¾ÊÀ¸¸ç, ±× °¡¹®¿¡´Â ºê¶óÈ常À» ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÏ´Â ÀÚ°¡ žÁö ¾Ê´Â´Ù.
11. Prajna, whose sphere is the state of deep sleep is the letter m, the third element, either from the root mi, to measure or because of merging. He who knows this measures all this and merges also.
±íÀº ¼ö¸é »óÅ¿¡ ¸Ó¹«´Â ±× »Ú¶óÀð´Â ¿À¿òÀÇ ¼¼¹ø° ±ÛÀÚ 'À½'¿Í °øÅëÁ¡ÀÌ ÀÖ´Ù. ÀÌ µÑÀº °¢±â ¾ÕÀÇ µÎ°¡Áö¸¦ ¼·Î Àß ¸ð¾Æ ¾î¿ï·Á Àû¿ë½ÃŲ´Ù´Â Á¡°ú ´Ù¸¥ °ÍµéÀÌ À̰͵鿡 ¿Í¼ ÇÕÃÄÁø´Ù´Â Á¡¿¡¼ ÀÏÄ¡ÇÑ´Ù. ÀÌ°ÍÀ» ¾Æ´Â »ç¶÷Àº ¼¼»óÀ» ¸ð¾Æ ¾î¿ï·Á Àû¿ëÄÉ ÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖÀ¸¹Ç·Î Âü ¸ð½ÀÀ» ¾Ë°Ô µÇ¸ç ¼¼»óÀÇ ±Ù¿ø¿¡ ¿Í¼ ÇÕÃÄÁö¸®¶ó.
12. The fourth is that which has no elements, which cannot be spoken of, into which the world is resolved, benign, nondual. Thus the syllable aum is the very self. He who knows it thus enters the self with his self.
